The fishing right now is off the charts with excellent catches of speckled trout being reported by anglers up and down the river. The striper bite up the Tar River between Washington and Greenville is as good as some have ever seen it with fish up to 10-12 pounds being caught with regularity. For those who have drum on the brain, there are plenty of drum everywhere with the bigger numbers being downriver in the higher saline areas near the sound. We are even starting to see some nice flounder, although they are probably fish that have overwintered in the creeks with the trout and drum.
If you are a new resident to the area or are just visiting, I want you to know that Inner Banks light tackle fishing is some of the best in North Carolina and rivals many other more well-known fishing destinations across the continental United States. We have a really awesome fishery with so much potential. Why travel elsewhere to fish when you have all you need right here at your doorstep. Get out and explore what this area has to offer, and I promise that you won’t be disappointed. We have great fishing, some of the best coastal scenery in North Carolina, and a pristine estuary rich in wildlife and
Tight Lines,ecological diversity.
