February is a month of clichés in Washington. . .we’ve gone to the dogs, this is for the birds, and love is in the air. The cliché’s might be overused, but our offerings this month will leave you wanting for more.
We do love having visitors see our community and hope that if you haven’t made it here yet you won’t wait much longer. If you are planning a trip to Washington let us help you plan your visit. You’ll soon see that love really is in the air here. |

17th East Carolina Wildlife Arts Festival ~ February 10-12
We’ve gone to the dogs here in Washington. DockDogs, that is! And yes, our calendar this month is for the birds (if you’re referring to exquisite, hand carved works of art). This month marks the return of the annual East Carolina Wildlife Arts Festival & North Carolina Decoy Carving Championships for the 17th year. The ECWAF brings the outdoors inside as art and wildlife enthusiasts gander at artwork and carvings from across the country. The ECWAF is the qualifying event for several official DockDog events as well as the Southern Classic Duck, Goose, and Swan Calling competitions. Activities take place throughout historic, downtown Washington on the Pamlico River. The show is open to the public Saturday and Sunday, with DockDog events opening on Friday. Tickets are $10 or $15 for a 3-day pass.
