North Carolina Highway Historical Marker Program
The N.C. Dept. of Cultural Resources this week unveiled a new Web site for the state's historical highway markers: www.ncmarkers.com. Three years in the making, the new site captures the stories of the state's movers and shakers, landmarks, and some quirks of history. Web surfers can search almost 1,500 markers in the state by geography, topic or key word - from diplomats to duels, politics to prisons, Indian wars to industry - or by a specific title. Each entry carries information about the subject, photographs and related links. To find out more about "History on a Stick", visit http://www.ncculture.com/news.asp.
